Trauma Informed relational behaviour Approach

Exeter House School Aims, Ethos and Values

At Exeter House School, we believe that sustainable learning occurs where meaningful engagement takes place. To be able to implement a trauma informed relational approach, the school community needs to be aware of trauma and the role it plays in everyday life. Exeter House School has a commitment to creating a safe, welcoming, nurturing and inclusive environment for all. The trauma informed relational approach forms the foundation for our support for our students wellbeing, regulation, behaviours for learning, our PSHE curriculum and all our teaching and learning.

The role of Trauma Informed Practice

Trauma informed relational practice within school has multiple benefits to supporting all the school community. Trauma and stress are very common and individuals of all backgrounds can experience them. These definitions allow for a variety of events, timeframes and factors to be taken into consideration. These events can be both internal and external of the school environment. Exeter House School provides an inclusive, flexible and personalised approach to individuals to suit their needs.
